What is rawhide?

Most people believe that rawhide is a by-product of beef. Unfortunately, that is not true. Rawhide is actually a by-product of leathermaking and is treated with formaldehyde.

Friday evening we decided to do an experiment..

We took the rawhide you see pictured below (left) and we placed it in a bowl of water (middle). The picture on the right was taken this morning to show you what happens to the rawhide as it is sitting in your dogs stomach. As you can see, your dog is not able to digest it.

Please, Please, Please..do NOT give your dogs rawhide!
